Our Services:
DiSclafani Designs is a diversified architectural and interior design firm, whose vice-president and University of Florida graduate Jessalyn L. DiSclafani has 19 years of architectural and construction experience in corporate office spaces, tenant improvements, healthcare, branch banks, medical offices, religious facilities and educational buildings including university scale projects. We have worked with traditional Owner-Architect and design-build contract agreements, working hand-in-hand with the contractor, owner, and engineers regardless of the agreement type.
This stream-lined process has sharpened our talents for prioritizing monies, design, and schedule to achieve the owner’s goals. In the end, it still is all about team, ethics and hard work. We believe in doing the “Right thing”. The Architect as prime will be intimately involved with the owner, end user, programming, presentation and construction meetings. The architect, Jessalyn L. DiSclafani will oversee the team and documents produced during each phase of the project. It is critically important that our designs meet the unique requirements of the building occupants. We have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic clients, guiding them through conceptual ideas, design, fundraising, public presentations, permitting, AHCA reviews, bidding, contractor selection, construction, furnishings, fixtures and ultimately building occupation.
DiSclafani Designs understands as patrons of the banking community change the facilities must adapt to meet the our customers needs. The traditional institutions we have been in and out of so many times are old symbols of stability, security and longevity. We are redefining what a banking facility is, designing for the current and future needs of the customers. Do you need an architect for your new or existing community bank?
DDpa is constantly looking to design for the near and distant future incorporating virtual reality and new technology. The “million dollar” question is what form will bank services take in the future? Will the built form be needed? As of today here are examples of the past work Jessalyn Leyra has accomplished prior to DDpa.our
3704 84th Avenue Circle E., Sarasota, FL
Owner: Florida Band Group, Inc. Tampa, Florida
Project Characteristics: Renovation of an existing building
Florida Bank Group opened their new branch bank located in north Sarasota, Florida, in an area of residential and commercial development at the time, with a direct connection to the interstate 75 and the beaches.
While employed at C&K Architects Jessalyn’s initial task was to evaluate an existing Dairy Queen building and discovered many issues that needed to be addressed if the bank was to own the building for any length of time beginning with the entire exterior envelope. She had to change the symbolic look of a dairy queen and create a new identity that represents the Florida Bank brand.
The interior space was completely demolished with exception of the load-bearing walls. We then implemented a new look and feel to the interior and exterior by applying the bank’s corporate image with their level of quality to the building. We had one unique element, an exterior patio connected directly to an office, allowing the interior space to flow outward.
The banks program consisted of the main lobby, 3 teller stations, multiple offices, a workroom; open office area with cubicles, 2 conference rooms, 2 secured rooms for safe deposit boxes, ATM and night depository; employee lounge, janitor’s closet, storage, and restrooms. A drive-thru canopy with their signature look created 2 drive-thru lanes and a by-pass lane. In addition, all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were replaced to maintain a high level of air quality and safety for their employees and patrons.
New Branch Building, 2,997sf
4211 San Juan Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32210
Project Characteristics: Located in the Ortega neighborhood of Jacksonville, on the edge of a residential community and commercial district.
The branch bank building is 2,997 sf., constructed of concrete block exterior walls with cementitious coating “stucco” on the exterior skin and foam wainscot band at the base. Using the mass of the material, scale of the fenestration in relation to the detail of the roof / wall connection, we achieved the Mediterranean style the owner wanted to achieve. The Mediterranean style and human scale of the building fits very well into the neighborhood. The sloped wood truss roof with tinted barrel concrete roof tiles lends itself to the character of the area and provides an iconic element to the street corner.
Florida Bank Program:
■ Entry Lobby
■ Mens and Ladies toilet
■ 3 Teller stations
■ Conference Room/Community Room
■ 2 Open Office areas
■ Employee Lounge
■ Central Files
■ 3 Offices
■ Server room
■ Janitor
Site design and building placement were very critical due to the natural flow of how bank circulation works with pedestrians and motor vehicles. Maintaining water run off within the site with relation to the amount of paving became an issue because the retention ponds became much deeper as required by code. This led to an increase in cost for soil removal, required fencing and landscaping to conceal this area.
We felt that the building’s signature tower element should anchor the corner and inherently become the signage needed for the public to see. This concept worked and saved the owner money by not having to purchase a monument or pole sign. The company name and logo was visible enough on the side of the tower to provide adequate exposure.
Florida Bank also gave us the task of using this as a prototype building to save cost on future locations. Through careful selection of building materials, fixtures and finishes we saved an estimated amount of $180,000 per new branch bank. Through sheer effort and diligence we maintained the look and feel of real natural materials which brought us halfway to our goal. The other was taking hard look at the structure and being creative with the design elements. (previous Jessalyn L. DiSclafani experience w/ Collman & Karsky).
