about us

DiSclafani Designs is a diversified architectural and interior design firm, whose vice-president and University of Florida graduate Jessalyn L. DiSclafani has 19 years of architectural and construction experience in corporate office spaces, tenant improvements, healthcare, branch banks, medical offices, religious facilities and educational buildings including university scale projects.  We have worked with traditional Owner-Architect and design-build contract agreements, working hand-in-hand with the contractor, owner, and engineers regardless of the agreement type.

This stream-lined process has sharpened our talents for prioritizing monies, design, and schedule to achieve the owner’s goals.  In the end, it still is all about team, ethics and hard work.  We believe in doing the “Right thing”. The Architect as prime will be intimately involved with the owner, end user, programming, presentation and construction meetings.  The architect, Jessalyn L. DiSclafani will oversee the team and documents produced during each phase of the project.  It is critically important that our designs meet the unique requirements of the building occupants. We have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic clients, guiding them through conceptual ideas, design, fundraising, public presentations, permitting, AHCA reviews, bidding, contractor selection, construction, furnishings, fixtures and ultimately building occupation.

Oldro Residence - Clermont, Fl

The Oldro Residence project consisted of taking a design of a home the clients loved from the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and implementing it in the Florida landscape on a lake.  They wanted their new home to use many of the characters from these drawings.  Upon initial review of the design documents, we found numerous missing elements which are required by the state of Florida Building Code.  We carefully listened to the clients and revised the documents adding elements needed to obtain a building permit.  We followed the 2010 Florida Building Code, National Life Safety Code and local codes for the design production of these construction documents and made it through permitting.  Unfortunately this beautiful remains unbuilt due to cost.

The revision of the documents gave the owner an opportunity to change some elements to better fit their needs and desires:

  1. The entire house will need to be 3’-0” +\- above grade on a concrete stem wall with fill;
  2. Concrete slab must be at least 3.5” ;
  3. Extend patio adjacent to the kitchen to meet the exterior west wall to create an outdoor living space and kitchen;
  4. This required a redesign of the roof to capture the outdoor living room, kitchen, and fireplace with chimney;
  5. Enlarge garage doors to be 10’-0” wide instead of 9’-0” to accommodate the recreation vehicles along with the clients day to day trucks;
  6. Fireplace in the great room will be enlarged to 6’-0” wide;
  7. No exterior wood trellis;
  8. Add exterior door from master bedroom to a new exterior concrete patio.
  9. Add toilet room for pool access to the north side of the master bedroom;
  10. Enlarge garage 2’-0 deeper to the north;
  11. Extend the concrete walk along the northern façade to connect the toilet room and outdoor kitchen;
  12. Add a door to exterior from kitchen to north;
  13. Add stackable sliding glass doors from great room to the north patio walk;
  14. Add single 36” to the west side of the great room to the outdoor kitchen.

This home took on a very traditional lakefront home feel with more contemporary elements added to meet the ability to outdoor living space all year.
