about us

DiSclafani Designs is a diversified architectural and interior design firm, whose vice-president and University of Florida graduate Jessalyn L. DiSclafani has 19 years of architectural and construction experience in corporate office spaces, tenant improvements, healthcare, branch banks, medical offices, religious facilities and educational buildings including university scale projects.  We have worked with traditional Owner-Architect and design-build contract agreements, working hand-in-hand with the contractor, owner, and engineers regardless of the agreement type.

This stream-lined process has sharpened our talents for prioritizing monies, design, and schedule to achieve the owner’s goals.  In the end, it still is all about team, ethics and hard work.  We believe in doing the “Right thing”. The Architect as prime will be intimately involved with the owner, end user, programming, presentation and construction meetings.  The architect, Jessalyn L. DiSclafani will oversee the team and documents produced during each phase of the project.  It is critically important that our designs meet the unique requirements of the building occupants. We have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic clients, guiding them through conceptual ideas, design, fundraising, public presentations, permitting, AHCA reviews, bidding, contractor selection, construction, furnishings, fixtures and ultimately building occupation.

General Randall Lee Middle School, HCSB

Randall Middle School in Lithia is part of the Fishhawk Development in southeast Hillsborough County, Florida, named for General James D. Randall, who was involved for 36 years in the Hillsborough County Public School System.

Jessalyn L. DiSclafani schematic designed the 132,000 square foot, multi-building layout to embrace the youngsters, in a central courtyard, secure from public roads and vehicle circulation.  This structure which appears to be one large building is actually 3 separate buildings connected by a 2 story, covered breezeway for circulation.

The Hillsborough County School Board had one major request for a clear and apparent entrance, for student drop off and parents visiting the school.   The one story administrative wing lies in front of the media/library building with a long, covered side walk to the parking.  This element is intended to become the buildings signature piece and signage.

The centrally located court yard gives a direct connection to the gymnasium and lunch room from the classrooms.  This provided visual accessibility in addition to security for the teachers and staff monitoring the students.  To reduce cost for the school board, we used a tilt-up wall construction method. This lent itself well to the checker pattern reveals and rhythmic penetrations for glazing.

This two-story classroom building is separated by the media room/library at the core.  This core is a two-story space structurally joining the two classroom wings.

The school consists of:

■ 40 classrooms

■ 4 classrooms include collapsible accordion walls creating one larger classroom

■ 15 administrative offices

■ 2 conference rooms

■ Media room with 16 single cubicles

■ Audio-visual storage

■ Cafeteria seating with stage

■ Commercial kitchen

■ Gymnasium with full basketball court

■ Offices

■ Changing rooms

■ Toilet rooms

■ Equipment storage

■ Exterior court yard with removable seating.

USF Dept. of Medicine - Office of Student Affairs

University of South Florida College of Medicine’s, Department of Academic Affairs main entrance corridor and office needed a face lift.  While being mindful of budgeting, this corridor received a new panel wall system that brought a richness to an otherwise mundane corridor.  This is a heavily used thoroughfare connecting group learning classrooms with the library and auditorium.

Jessalyn L. DiSclafani, AIA while employed as a USF Health architect and facilities project manager, provided her own interior design skills and design talents to give this space a grand yet comfortable place to display each year’s graduating class pictures.  To prevent damage to the original photo collage and each students picture that was individually placed they were scanned and printed at a high resolution.  These new photographs are now displayed compressed between two pieces of lexan suspended on a cable system fastened to rod with aluminum cast mounts.

USF College of Medicine Student Lounge Renovation

The USF College of Medicine student lounge renovation incorporated the use of existing cabinetry refinished and reconfigured to save money for the school and department.  The use of new vinyl wood plank flooring and changing the entire color scheme provided a quick and inexpensive solution until the new college of medicine is complete in down town Tampa.

Another one of Jessalyn L. DiSclafani’s projects while employed with USF Health as an architect and facilities project manager used her considerable talents to renovate a kitchen and living room lounge for the students.  In 2016, she was responsible for working with the Department of Educational Affairs administrator to get the most out of their budget.

USF Dept. of Ophthalmology Eye Institute Administrative offices

The Department of Ophthalmology at USF Health wanted to relocate their entire 24,000 sf. clinical and administrative departments into a new more contemporary space.  The clinical service moved into the Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare building on the University of South Florida, Tampa campus while the administrative moved into the Faculty office building across the drop off south of the Morsani building.  This gave the staff, faculty, fellows and residents direct access to their shared administrative work space.

Jessalyn L. DiSclafani, while employed as a USF Health architect and facilities project manager, also was entrusted by the administration for the development and design of their new 3,000 sf. USF Health Eye Institute academic office floor plan. The new administrative office space was designed and built in the adjacent faculty building to house the department chairman, program director and administrators of the department. It also included multiple work stations in shared offices for the faculty doctors, fellows and resident doctors in training, as well as clerical staff. This project worked concurrently with the clinical buildout which began in late 2017 with an architect of record and opened its’ doors in July 2018.

The new Eye Institute offices includes:

  • 7 shared offices (2 doctors each)
  • Department Chair office and Assistant (2 offices)
  • GME Coordinator office and Assistant (2 offices)
  • Department Administrator office
  • Residence Conference room
  • Financial Specialist
  • Copy area
  • Assistant work area.
